Desire and Intention

I believe there isn’t a more powerful equation than

Desire + Intention = Goal

(a few engineers, scientists or mathematicians might challenge me on this)

This is a key equation both personally and professionally

Desire – what do you want, have your heart set on or wish for? Have you thought about and identified your desires, both personally and professionally – both in the short term and in the distant future?

Intention – are you being intentional about your pursuit, not only in the short term but on an ongoing daily basis? Once the initial desire is reached, do you continue your attention on it?

We can use this equation every day in little ways by beginning a practice of daily desires. Maybe it is choosing a healthy lifestyle by eating better or exercising, getting more sleep. Maybe it is being grateful, making a difference, learning something new, finding something that brings you joy, or joy to another. Maybe it is creating a shift at work for the better or at home, or finding peace with a current struggle.

Being intentional toward whatever desire we have set for the day, the week, the year or in our future will move you closer to your desire and the daily practice will create a natural pathway in your brain to keep you focused. Remember,

“Your brain takes the shape of what your mind rests on.”
